The following are just a selection of the components of a Workplace Wellness Programme that Loughborough’s Health Headquarters can provide.
Remember the programme is individual to your organisation. So for example, if you would like to concentrate more on the social health of the organisation to improve cohesion rather than the physical health, we can tailor this package for you.
Employee Health Screening
Workplace wellness advisors can provide on-site health checks. Basic health checks such as weight, blood pressure and cholesterol can be checked during a short consultation without employees even having to leave the building.
Health Promotion Events/Seminars
These events can include a wide variety of stands and promotions on health advice, chosen specifically by your organisation. Examples can include nutrition and weight management advice, healthy cooking ideas, ways to increase physical activity, safe drinking guidelines, and alternative therapies. Qualified professionals will deliver seminars and taster sessions throughout the day to give your employees the opportunity to try out new health experiences which they may choose to pursue further in the future.
Individual Lifestyle Assessment and Action Plan
Workplace wellness advisors will work on a one to one basis with employees to help them improve their lifestyles. The wellness advisors will analyse the individual’s current lifestyle and then provide personalised advice and guidance around three main areas: nutrition and weight management, physical activity and stress management.
Challenges
Challenges such as a pedometer challenge (to see who takes the most steps throughout the day) have proved popular in some workplaces. Employees are issued with a pedometer, plus literature containing advice and guidance about the basic physical activity recommendations and how to gradually improve their own activity levels safely and effectively to meet these guidelines.
Healthy Eating Review
Workplace wellness advisors will review your organisation’s eating establishments and vending areas to make sure that healthy eating options are being offered. Our team will also provide advice on healthy eating. This advice focuses on employees making small changes to their eating habits which will ultimately make a big difference to their health.
Workplace Wellness Champions
Research shows that the most effective Workplace Wellness programmes are those with a designated Workplace Wellness Champion who can support staff to implement and then maintain their behaviour change. This could be a member of staff whose sole responsibility is to co-ordinate the Workplace Wellness programme or an existing employee who takes on the role of Workplace Wellness Champion as part of their current role. Whoever this may be, our workplace team can fully equip them to plan, implement and develop your Workplace Wellness programme.
Stress Management
Stress is a leading cause of long-term absence, closely followed by mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Loughborough College are well aware of the implications that long-term absence can have on both the employee and the employer and we are therefore able to tailor any of the packages we offer specifically to those employees on long term sickness absence. Bespoke courses can also be designed to assist both the employee and their employees in managing their return to work.
