These training programmes are aimed at those needing a qualification for working in a library/learning resources/information centre environment.

This could include education, health, industry or the voluntary sector. The qualifications will enable the employee to identify ways to improve their service as well as skills such as health and safety and ILT.

We offer this NVQ programme at two different levels depending on the candidate:

Level 2
This NVQ course is aimed at employees working for at least 16 hours per week and have the opportunity to find sufficient evidence in the workplace to build their portfolio. It covers basic skills including maintaining the arrangement of material to facilitate retrieval, providing information to users and problem solving along with other optional units.

Level 3
This more advanced qualification is aimed at those employees working at a level which requires responsibility for selection and management of resources along with some supervisory responsibility. More advanced than the Level 2, it covers similar key skills but offers a wider range of optional units to candidates.

The qualifications are both assessed in the workplace by an assessor who will visit every four to six weeks to both observe the candidate and provide guidance on completing their portfolio.
