All staff should undertake suitable training in relation to the Safe Handling of Medicines before administering to individuals. This programme is designed to provide an introduction to different types of medicine and how it is dealt with safety in different care settings.

The Key learning objectives are:

  • Policies and procedures relating to medication
  • Recognise the different types of medication
  • Safe practice when dealing with medicines
  • Monitoring the effects of medication
Training Entry Requirements:

There are no formal requirements however participants need to be working in either the Health & Social Care sector or in the Childcare Learning & Development Sector.

Training Delivery:

This is delivered as a full day course in the workplace. Dependant on the course a written assessment or a multiple choice question sheet will be completed by the participants at the end of the day.
