Moving and Handling

This course deals specifically with moving and handling people. It provides participants with an understanding of the skills needed to move people safely, ensuring that moving and handling risks to themselves and the service user are reduced to the lowest level.
This awareness training is suitable for employees with duties that involve the moving and handling of people within their working environment, such as care homes. It also supports employers’ health and safety and induction programmes and meets the Skills for Care Common Induction Standards 3.2 Moving and Handling, the Care Council for Wales Social Care Induction Framework 2.3, and the Children's Workforce Development Council Induction Standards 3.2.
The Key learning objectives are:
- Understanding the importance of risk assessments and back care
- Knowledge and an awareness of the skill needed to move and handle people safely
- Identify the main laws that apply to safe moving and handling in the workplace
- The main responsibilities of employers and employees
There are no formal requirements however participants need to be working in the Health and Social Care sector.
Training Delivery:
This is a half day training course which can be provided at your setting at a suitable date agreed.
