Introduction to Equality and Diversity

Care standards regulation make equality and diversity training mandatory for anyone working in care. This course has been designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to equality and diversity and to raise participants’ cultural awareness. It explores the significance of equality and diversity in the work situation and introduces some key legislation in this area.
The Key learning objectives are:
- Definitions and terms associated with equality and diversity
- The importance of diversity in the work situation
- The importance of equality in the work situation
- The negative impact of prejudice and stereotyping in the work situation
- The importance of cultural awareness in the work situation
- Promoting equality and diversity in the work situation – your rights and responsibilities
There are no formal requirements however participants need to be working in either the Health & Social Care sector or in the Childcare Learning & Development Sector.
How Is This Course Delivered?
This is delivered as a full day course in the workplace. Dependant on the course a written assessment or a multiple choice question sheet will be completed by the participants at the end of the day.
