Introduction to End of Life Care

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to improve their knowledge and understanding of end of life care. It is ideal in supporting health and social care staff working, in any capacity, with people nearing the end of life and their families. To meet the emotional demands and challenges of end of life care, it is vital that staff are equipped with the suitable knowledge, skills and attitudes.
The Key learning objectives are:
- Introduction to the principles of end of life care
- To enable participants to provide appropriate support to people in their care who are nearing the end of life
- Increased awareness of the processes involved in advance care planning and of the support services available to those nearing the end of life and their families
- Communication skills in an end of life care context and learn ways to overcome any barriers to this.
There are no formal requirements however participants need to be working in the Health & Social Care sector.
How Is This Course Delivered?
This is delivered as a full day course in the workplace. Dependant on the course a written assessment or a multiple choice question sheet will be completed by the participants at the end of the day.
